La Coupe Hauxer

A battle for hockey bragging rights through head to head competition between each of our favorite teams - Devils (Brad), Flyers (Wiley), Penguins (Sam), and Capitals (Fritz/William). The winner(s) gets the historic La Coupe Hauxer and the universal currency of respect/adminiration. The loser(s) gets the Stanley Screwdriver, the universal currency of humiliation and has to buy everyone dinner at the Vienna Inn. Game on!

It's all over folks!

Well in a surprise turn of events, the penguins get eliminated first, let me just say that again cause I like the sound of it, the penguins get eliminated. The Flyers make history by being 1 of only 6 teams to be down 3-0 and then forcing a game 7. So the Flyers make history and the penguins are history. This obviously brings this exciting season to a close, Sam I am looking forward to handing you the screwdriver. So when is it going to be boys?

Could this be the end of the season?

Well it seems the Flyers are doing everything possible to keep me tied for second place. If they lose tonight, that's it season over for La Coupe Hauxer. We must then go through the pain and agony of trying to decide on a weekend for Sam to pay up. It's going to be a rather busy June for me, My parents are coming in the 12th, so that kills that weekend, my house closes on the 18th, my birthday is the 19th, and father's day is the 20th, another weekend down the drain. The weekend of the 26th will work. And July looks promising for the most part, but I know my father in law is coming in for a visit at some point in July so, I'm not sure. Anybody have any other thoughts or suggestions? And I must say, you Penguin and Devil guys better have your damn jerseys this year!

Whose house? Run's house! I said whose house? Run's house! Martin! Martin!

Well, what can I say but, THE FLYERS OWNED THE DEVILS THIS SEASON! Well last nights 3-0 shutout was simply the icing on the cake for the season. After the game the arena was classy enough to play the song Bittersweet Symphony, if only the New Jersey fans were as classy, I clearly saw trash thrown onto the ice almost immediately. But hey, its New Jersey. Thanks Mulch, now all the Flyers have to do is sweep the Caps. Hey, I am living the dream!

Hey, I'm just happy to be out of the basement, for now

Caps sweep Pens? For now at least

Well done, Washington Capitals, well done. For the first time ever, the Caps got a regular season sweep of the flightless birds. That pushes our nation's Capitals into first place in La Coupe Hauxer. Not a bad positioning to start the playoffs in. This is far from over though and I would not be surprised to see another matchup in the future.

We have miles to go before we sleep...
